How can I add a prescription I had to pay month for 2 years

As seen in our TurboTax article How to Deduct Your Medical Expenses you cannot enter more than 12 months on 1 return.

If you are using 2021 software online, you can claim your prescription by following these steps:

  1. Sign in to your Tax return.
  2. Select Find (or the magnifying glass icon) from the top right of the screen.
  3. Write and select “Medical Expenses Profile” from the list of results in the Find window and click the Go button.
  4. Check the box "Medical receipts 2021"  then Continue.
  5. Click on Enter New Medical Expense then enter your information under Medical Expenses Receipt # 1. Make sure you put " Prescriptions" in the Type section then click Done.
  6. Now you can see your Medical Expense Summary then click Done with medical expenses.
  7. Choose "Yes" and fill your claim period for your medical expenses.
  8. Click the Continue button to save your information.

To claim your medical expense for the previous year you will need to make an adjustment. Please see our TurboTax FAQ for guidance. I've filed my tax return. Can I still make changes?

Thank you for choosing TurboTax.
