Do I also have to report the amounts of the premiums paid, if they are claimable by us, where we report the total paid by dependent adults?
If we can't claim these Premiums, can our children carry them forward on their own returns, to a point in the future where they are earning income and could use the deduction?
If you are able to show that you paid for the medical premiums, you can include those with your medical expenses. If your dependants are 19 and over, then you can claim the particular medical expenses which apply to them at line 331 of your schedule 1, and it is reduced by 3% of THEIR net income.
Medical expenses can not be carried forward per se...you can only claim for a 12 month period. However you are able to claim for any 12 month period where the end date falls within the tax year.
