How do I fix NETFILE error code 57?

If you get NETFILE error code 57, it means, the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) system doesn't recognize the mailing address city you entered in TurboTax. You can confirm the mailing address city the CRA has on record by accessing CRA My Account.

Confirm your mailing address in TurboTax

TurboTax Desktop

  • Select Find from the TurboTax menu.

  • In the Find window, type Mailing address and select Go.

  • In the search result, select Mailing address, and then select Go.

  • At Information for [your name], in the City field, check the spelling and make any necessary corrections.

  • Select Find from the TurboTax menu.

  • In the Find window, type netfile and select NETFILE or Print then select Go.

  • To resubmit your tax return to CRA, continue by completing the steps in TurboTax.

TurboTax Online

  • From 2025 tax return under Add to your return select the Personal info dropdown and under Let's get some details about your life and family select Edit.

  • Beside Contact info select Edit.

  • At Let's get your contact info, in the City field, check the spelling and make any necessary corrections. Select Continue.

  • To resubmit your tax return to the CRA, continue by completing the Finish and file steps in TurboTax.
