FHSA deduction limit is showing $0 when it should be $8000. Is this going to be fixed?

Turbo knew about this long ago, they collected money anyway

FHSA deduction limit is showing $0 when it should be $8000. Is this going to be fixed?

Hello,

Having the same issue, unable to input 2023 FHSA carry over amount to claim in 2024. Has anyone been able to do this?

Unfortunately no cure, except downloading you Trubo tax and filling out the T4FHSA  numbers yourself, I think thats the only way,   The CRA has a glitch and Turbo Tax knew that from the start but still collected the payment and let you suffer the results.  Blame both. Next year pick carefully , and wait for reviews.

Thanks Harpoon, it’s what I’m afraid of as I can’t find any user input errors but it would be nice if a Turbo Tax moderator weighed in on the issue to confirm where the problem is and when clients can expect a remedy.

Unfortunately they will just give you the same old story they gave to hundreds of others

I don't know if you had the same issue as me DougFromCalgary and harpoon47, but when I filled in the FHSA amounts from the 2023 notice of assessment, the carry forward amount was correct and allowed me to enter that amount to deduct.

Thanks for your insights lulu31.

I've discovered what the problem was in my situation.

On the RSP Profile page, where it asks have you opened an FHSA, I misread the question and thought they were just asking if you had an active FHSA but they're asking if it was opened only in 2024.

Normally these questions just tell Turbo Tax which menus to subsequently open up for data input, but in this case, even though I'd correctly entered all the 2013 NoA data and even thought TurboTax should have carried over that I had an active FHSA from my 2023 return, by checking yes the program overrides your carry over data and only gives you your 2024 contribution room, not your carry over room.

That's what was blocking me from claiming the full $16,000.

Thanks to all in this thread for sharing their experiences with this part of the software.

Cheers.

Doug.
