I went to file my return using the Premier online edition already purchased with an activation code, and it says that I am using the self-employed version and that this one isn't eligible. I already filed 2 returns using this code! Why won't it let me now? It's asking me to pay an additional $120!
If the return you have already prepared and are ready to file has been upgraded to a self-employed version, you will be required to pay because you will no longer be using the Premier version that you originally purchased. You will need a self-employed version if you have to report self-employment, contract, and some other income or to report rental income.
Should you have inadvertently upgraded it, you will need to begin the return process anew in the necessary version.

I paid the additional $120 just to file it, and feel totally ripped off since I never upgraded it and it wouldn't let me start again without automatically jumping to the self- employed version. I already bought the Premier addition, and would like a refund please. I have had Turbotax issues before, and don't think I'll use it again in the future.
@cwittrin The product can not be upgraded by itself until or unless you require an upgrade or you accept the upgrade by clicking on a prompt. You can submit an online Refund Request for the product you haven't used to file your return.
You can request a refund for your TurboTax product within 60 days of the original purchase date. Fill out and submit the form below.
If you bought TurboTax from our website, you'll find your order number in the email you received after purchase.
If you bought TurboTax through a retailer, you'll find your order number and licence code in your email (for online orders) or on the product box (if you received one).
