T5008 does losing money not get reflected in taxes?

Hi Guys, 

In my T5008 form (for personal, recreational investing in stocks), it notes that the book value ended up being higher than the proceeds of disposition (meaning I lost money on my investments). After I made this update to my Turbo Tax forms, it looks like it's not reflected anywhere in the Turbo Tax summary page of all my tax forms and such for the year. Is this normal? i.e. if book value>proceeds of disposition in the T5008, does that not impact one's taxes for the year?
