Self-employed
If you used your vehicle to earn employment income, please follow these steps:
- Select Find, search for and select Employment Expenses, then select Go.
- On the Employment Expenses screen, you will see two conditions, if you meet them, you may click Yes, and you can continue to claim the employment expenses.
- On the Employment Expenses Profile screen, if you received form T2200, choose the first option, and then you can Continue to claim the employment expenses.
- On the next page, you will see the options for Motor Vehicle Expenses, choose it, answer the remaining questions, and then click Continue.
- Then you are able to enter your vehicle maintenance/repairs information.
If you used your vehicle to earn self-employed income, please follow these steps:
- Select Find, search for and select Self-Employment, then select Go.
- On the Did you have any self-employment income and expenses screen, select Yes, then Continue.
- Continue to answer questions about your self-employment.
- Continue through the Next up, claiming your expenses screen.
- On the Select the types of expenses you have screen, select Add under Vehicle expenses, then Continue.
- Select Start under Vehicle expenses.
- Answer Yes to Did you use a vehicle for your work?
- Select Add a new vehicle.
- Answer the questions about your vehicle
