For an infirm dependant what proof of infirmity is required? Is it the same standard as requiredf for the disability tax credit?

I have a 31 year old son who have been unable to work for 12 years due to major depression. We applied for the disability tax credit last year but were denied.  Could he still be eligible for the Infirm Dependant amount? What evidence is required?

Self-employed

If he is seen regularly by a psychologist, psychiatrist, or physician, they can provide a letter describing his medical or psychological issues and stating that he must be cared for.

Per CRA

The CRA may ask for a signed statement from a medical practitioner showing the nature of the impairment, when the impairment began, what the duration of the impairment is expected to be, and that because of an impairment in physical or mental functions, the person is, and will continue to be, dependent on others.
