What expenses can be claimed when your employer has you work from home 4 out of 5 days per week?
my wife office is approx 10% of the square footage of the house and can I claim a portion of hydro and gas?

You use the square footage of the office divided by the square footage of the house to arrive at an accurate percentage to multiply the total cost of the claimable expenses. There is no claim for mortgage payments, a portion of mortgage interest, a portion of property tax, or capital cost allowance on the home. Some of those may be allowable if your wife is paid commission only. That is stated on the T777. Other than that, per the office in home info on the T777, it is heat, light, water and maintenance.
Section 10 of the T2200 has to be filled out by the employer.

This is a copy of the T777, which shows you what kind of expenses can be claimed. Before you can do that, you must have a signed T2200 from the employer stating that the expense is a job requirement. These forms are not specifically available in the online version. Click on the income tab > employment expenses and follow the pages.
