Is staff accommodation deductible?
I am a university student with a summer job a small tourist town several hours away from home. The town's population grows in the summer with tourists and staff. Staff accommodation is not a "requirement" of the job, but it is the only way to make this work possible. I lived in staff accommodation and the rent was taken off my pay. Can I claim living expenses?

Credits and deductions
If it wasn't required for you to live in this accommodation, then you can't claim it as an employment expense. However, depending on what province you live it, there might be provincial rent credit you can take. Also, if you had to move at least 40 kilometres to earn this employment income, then you might be able claim moving expenses.
