In the TurboTax Free edition,
On the Home Screen click "Your Taxes"
In the search bar type "northern"
Click "Northern Residents Deduction"
Complete the first line, where it asks for "Zone," "Street Address or lot and plan number," "Prov or Territory," "Enter the Date that you started to live in a prescribed zone," and "Enter the date that you stopped living in a prescribed zone." If you lived in the same zone for the whole year, enter January 1, 2016 and December 31, 2016.
DO NOT complete the second row if you do not qualify for the Additional Residency Amount.
