How can this scenario be treated in the online software for 2021 related to Child Care Expenses and input correctly:
Parents are divorced, with joint 50-50 custody and split all expenses for 2 children 50% as per a separation agreement.
A single dependent is claimed by each parent and split evenly:
Parent A claims Child 1
Parent B claims Child 2
Child 1 based on their age max deduction for Child Care is $5,000 in 2021 (down from $8,000 in 2020)
Child 2 based on their age max deduction for Child Care is $8,000 in 2021
The combined Child Care Expenses for which both parents contributed equally is $13,000, and split evenly is $6,500.
$6,500 cannot be claimed by Parent A for Child 1 because it is greater than $5,000.
Any advice to make this even split?
