Troubleshooting

This may have worked in 2022 but the bracket workaround no longer works for the 2024 return.  So, same issue, how do I enter a negative number in box 42?

@006doubleohsix

Please use a negative sign to enter your box 42 amount. Ex: -5000

OK, I did try a minus sign already 😬 and no it doesn't work. I called in to your phone support line, and what ended up being the method to get around this was to go through the EasyStep interview process - several screens long, until you get a screen where you can enter or edit the amount on your T3 slip.  On that screen, it is possible to enter a minus sign for the amount in Box 42.  Took a bit of work, but leaving this resolution here in case others have the same issue.

Troubleshooting

This is a basic issue with the form used to directly enter T3 information which should be fixed to allow correct entry of a negative field. It should not be necessary to waste time to follow the Easy Step workaround.

Thank you for posting this workaround 😉

Given the disaster between CRA and financial institutions that has prevented certain tax slips being available for import from CRA this year I'm sure there are a lot of TT users getting very frustrated with this.....

@grahamT Your frustration is understandable. We have taken note of your comments. We appreciate your patience.
