Yes, you do need to wait for the claim to be approved and in your file to be able to claim it. A Disability Tax Credit claim can sometimes be lengthy. If you asked for the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) to make the adjustments for prior years, they will adjust your returns and credits accordingly, including for the 2023 tax season. This will all be included in the letter you will receive when your application is decided upon.
