Troubleshooting
I had the same issue. It asks "If you wish to claim less than the maximum above, enter it here. The difference will be carried forward to be claimed next tax year."
We entered "0", "0.00" and when you hit continue it will ignore what you have entered and will instead claim the full amount you have contributed. If you enter 1.00 everything calculates correctly, and defers everything (well, less the $1.00) but the zero amount evidently messes up the software...
Hoping they fix this - I would rather carry forward the full amount to a higher income year.

Troubleshooting
Hi everyone. I started this thread last year (2023 taxes) and I just finished my current year taxes 2024, and like several of you mentioned this is still messed up.
In the end I used $1.00 as well for the 2024 FHSA deduction because $0.00 won’t work and if you override the total field you can’t use Netfile.
Thanks for all the great comments, by the time I got around to this year’s taxes I was ready with my $1.00 deduction and did not waste my future $8000 FHSA deduction!
thx!

Troubleshooting
I did not contribute FHSA this 2024, but the tax software add it automatically and can not get right of it. and 1 dollar does not work as I tried, it showed 8001. does any one have anyway to get it right? as I really like to get the tax return done right, done on time.

Still no option for a FHSA deduction carryover...using override prevents netfile - so option is to only file by print/mail. Anyone else figure thhis out. Was told its was going to be fixed on Mar 15 2025...

Just boggles my mind that these "low hanging fruit" fixes aren't attended to when it impacts so many taxpayers.
Such a simple, simple concept. Such a simple, simple fix for competent programmers. Can't believe anything the "help" desk says. You just can't, in my opinion.
ANYHOO...
I put $0.01 and all was OK. Some use 1.00. That works too
As stated, overidden amounts preclude e-filing.
Don't even get me started on other forms.

does not look like this issue has been resolved yet .. as I am just working on my taxes and have the same issue . Is there an ETA for this fix .. it should be as simple as enter an amount or check this box if you want to carry forward all of your FHSA contributions

Troubleshooting
I was tired of waiting so I forced the value 0.00 with the F2 key and sent the report with no problem. I already received my notice of assessment with the right numbers.
