Troubleshooting

Tired of waiting for their updates, I switched to FutureTax, submitted the returns successfully.

Troubleshooting

Sorry. This is unacceptable. We have paid for this service and workarounds, as opposed to a real solution, simply will not do. We need to be as accurate as possible when reporting. I have not, nor ever will enjoy audits. Give us a timeline please so we have an option of asking for a refund or waiting.

Troubleshooting

@NNZ We understand your frustration. We are aware of this issue, and working with the CRA on a resolution.

We appreciate your patience.

@TurboTaxAniqua  Unfortunately this does not work

enter 100% ownership at the top”  Always was at 100% so this is not a change

then half of all values into boxes for each person”  Each person?  There’s just me

Then the values for line 68140 on T936 were correct and agreed with Schedule 3 line 17600”  Line 68140 still says zero and does not align with line 17600.  Also, line 17,600 is now half of the gain it should be so box 19900 has the incorrect total capital gain listed.

Troubleshooting

Another day goes by with no fix.  Your support pages have nothing regarding this error 95365 so it appears TurboTax is covering up their error.  I have sent a private message to TurboTax requesting an update and firm ETA, no response.  We need a solution right NOW.  No more poorly constructed workarounds that do not work. TurboTax: clean up your act if you wish to keep future customers.

I have lost my patience,  you took my money and delayed my refund.

Troubleshooting

To Intuit Team,

Please let us know in this thread after the update/fix has a been completed.  I don't want to risk netfiling and getting locked out again.  I was told by an Intuit agent that there would be an update today (Mar 28) but there wasn't a Turbotax update.

Troubleshooting

After finally getting my CRA Netfile account unlocked this morning (it was a very long wait on hold), and after using a combination of the workarounds suggested by the good people this forum and elsewhere, I was able to netfile my return successfully. I had successfully netfiled my wife’s return a week ago before I realized that TurboTax had not distributed 50% of capital gains amount from the T3 slip entered on my return to her return, so now I still need to complete revisions to her return.

I have one T3 slip that needed to be divided 50/50 between my return and my wife’s return - here’s the workaround process that worked for me. Hopefully this is helpful to others:

1. Revised the T3 slip so that it has only even numbers.

2. Moved the amount in Box 52 of the T3 into Box 53. Made sure that the amount in Box 53 equals the amount in Box 21.

3. Divided all amounts on the T3 in half, and then entered these amounts as two separate T3 slips in TurboTax, once as part of my T-slips on my return and once as part of my wife’s T-slips on her return.

4. The amounts on Line 17600 on Schedule 3 now matched the amount on Line 68140 in Chart A on T936 on both returns.

While I appreciate the fact that the government’s last minute decisions regarding the proposed changes to the rules around capital gains deduction left both CRA staff and TurboTax staff scrambling, I also 100% agree with those who have suggested that TurboTax owes us a refund for the pain and aggravation caused by their reluctance to admit there was a problem within their software, and their inability to resolve these glitches in a timely manner.

Troubleshooting

Thanks for the details of the workaround @blgcan . However, I probably won't use that workaround because I've got several T3 slips. It's just too much work. That's why I have been buying TurboTax for almost 30 years -- to do the tedious work for me. However, it's possible this might be the last year I buy TurboTax, unless they fix this bug quickly (in the Desktop version!) and make amends for all this hassle. Perhaps TurboTax can send everyone a 25% or 50% off coupon for next year?

Troubleshooting

@blgcancan you let me know how did you refile your wife's return?

i'm in the same boat, that i can't netfile my return but i was successfully filed my wife's, however CRA is having a hard time with it currently which your post explains why.

Since i have T3 on my return and i assigned 100% of it to my wife, those figured never transferred over as per your explanation (if i understood it correctly).

now question how do i fix it to avoid an audit and making sure everything is correct.

on the side note i'm completely speechless on how Intuit & TurboTax treating it and dealing with it. they supposed to making tax filing a peace of mind process hence why people use them but as a result of such experience i will be surprised if anyone will use them again.
