Total Refundable Tax Credits applied properly?
I am wondering why my Total Refundable Tax Credits is more then what I paid in taxes. yet i still owe taxes.
- 260 Taxable Income 43,507.00
- 437 Tax deducted 12,916.00
- 482 Total Refundable Tax Credits 13,170.96
- 350 Total Federal Non-Refundable Credits 4,933.00
- 420 Net federal tax 1,593.04
- 428 Provincial or territorial tax 1,021.58
- 435 Total payable 2,614.62
With this information im assuming the refundable tax credits should take care of everything. What i dont understand is how this works, since line 350 takes care of some federal taxes to be left with 420. and 428
not sure where these come from:
- Ontario non-refundable tax credits
- Ontario tax reduction
But anyways, I am not sure why 482 is not fully applying.
also my wife has
260 Taxable income 8,503.08 (cpp)
350 Non refundable tax credits 3,006.60Also one last important question
My taxable income is over the Ontario 2018 taxable income bracket so I am assuming I would be paying 9% but when I look at how much im being taxed:
Ontario income tax - 2,219.09
That is like 5.1005355460040915% (seems a bit high, since ontario is 5.05)
I am wondering why I am not being taxed in ontario at the 9% is the 2019 bracket being applied because im filing in 2019?
I assumed 2018 bracket of 42,800 something or other is for income during 2018. Is this an error in turbotax?
I need to know because it might make a big difference, and if it does I may need to donate to RRSP to offset this
