Troubleshooting

Hello,

I came across this message while wrestling with the same issue on the 2024 Home and Business version on Windows 11.

I was able to "fix" it by restoring a copy of my tax return that was created after filing 2024 taxes on April 30th. It appears that Turbo Tax files are extremely sensitive to any subsequent changes after filing a return. This would include something like printing or looking up a form or slip and then closing the return. There appears to be an implicit save or flag inside the file as I was very careful to not explicitly save the file when prompted to do so by the program.

Bottomline, make sure to create a backup copy of your file once you have EFiled your return and gotten the confirmation. Make this copy read only so it does not accidently get changed and make a backup just to be safe.

If you ever have to refile, check the RSUM form before making any changes to make sure it is carrying forward the correct amounts under Old Amounts and Changed Amounts column. If you do this before making any changes, the difference column should show all zeros. Once you have made the changes, go back and verify that RSUM is showing the net change correctly before Refiling.

I hope this helps anyone in the future wrestling with this issue which is very poorly documented.

Cheers
