Continue with the following instructions:

  • Run as Admin: Right-click the TurboTax icon and select Run as administrator.
  • Disable Security: Temporarily turn off your VPN, Firewall, and Antivirus, as these often block activation servers, and turn them back on once it is activated.
  • Update OS: Ensure your OS meets requirements and is up to date.
  • Check the Code: Confirm the 16-character code is from your email or box, not the store receipt.
  • Match Product: Ensure you aren't trying to use an "Online" code for "Desktop" software.
  • Limit Check: One license allows installation on up to 3 computers. If you've exceeded this, the code will fail.
  • Avoid Lockouts: Stop after two failed attempts to prevent a temporary security lock on your code.
