For example, I opened the TFSA in 2024 and contributed $5,000. That means I can contribute $11,000 in 2025. I contributed $9,000 in 2025, so I should have a remainder of $2,000 available to deduct in future years. I am not ending up with that. I believe that TurboTax may be using the wrong maximum, as it should be using the maximum available ($11,000 in my example) and in stead is using the maximum based on what was contributed ($9,000 in my example).
