Troubleshooting
Do you have any amounts in box 85 of your T4 or box 135 of a T4A?
The $2045.76 appearing on line 33099, despite empty medical sections, is likely auto-filled from box 85 of your T4 or box 135 of a T4A. Tax software often pulls provincial health premiums or private insurance premiums paid through payroll from your tax slips and automatically calculates the medical expense tax credit.
In the "Medical Expenses" or "Tax Summary" section of the software, look for a line item labelled "Private Health Services Plan Premiums" or "Provincial Medical Premiums."
If you or your employer paid these premiums, they are considered legitimate medical expenses. If you did not pay for any private insurance or provincial premiums, you must check your T4 entries or delete the auto-filled amount in the medical deductions section of your software.
Hope this helps!
Thank you for choosing TurboTax.
