CRA Schedule 15

Troubleshooting

Hi, Thanks for your reply .

@TurboTax_Susan

I made the following modifications to schedule 15, step 1.

Screenshot 2026-03-20 193933.png

However  when I try to  send to  Netfile  I now get this error "You entered a T4FHSA slip for 2025; you must specify the year you opened your first account. If it was before 2025, enter the amounts from your FHSA participation room statement(s)."

I made contributions to  FHSA  in 2024  and 2025 .

So... I go back to the forms view  and make the following change:Screenshot 2026-03-20 194533.png

When trying to submit to netfile for the second time with the change above , I get the original error : "Enter the year you opened your first FHSA or became a successor holder, and ensure any prior year indications of status are accurate."

Troubleshooting

Hi @TurboTaxStdUser

I just had the same issue that you did. After looking online for a long time and then eventually reading the fine print instructions on Schedule 15 in Forms view, I realized that the entirety of Step 1 should be blank if the FHSA account was opened in 2024 (like mine was). I had the year 2024 input, since that is the year I opened the account. However, since I didn't open anything in 2025, this should be entirely blank. After removing the year, my NETFILE error went away!!

Hope this helps!!

Troubleshooting

Hi there, I am having a similar issue, but getting an error message, so I am prevented from efiling due to the error.  The error message says: Enter the year you opened your first FHSA or became a successor holder, and ensure and prior indications of status are accurate.

There was no box for me to input the year (though there was a box for my spouse), so I input it directly into the schedule 15 form.  This did not solve my issue, as I continue to get this error message and am prevented from efiling my return.  I was able to efile my spouse's return.

This appears to be a bug with Turbotax.  I hope it is solved soon, so I don't have to print and mail my return.

@OrangeKat The question "Did you open your first FHSA or became a successor holder in 2025 or a previous year" is asking two things:

  • Did you open your first FHSA in 2025?
  • Did you become a successor holder in 2025 or a previous year?

So, if for example you opened up your FHSA in 2024, and you didn't inherit it from a deceased spouse/partner, you would answer NO to that question, and leave the rest of Section 1 of Schedule 15 blank.

Darn, that means I answered it wrong for my spouse whose efile was accepted.  What a weirdly worded question.

It's interesting that my spouse did not get the same error message as I did.
