I have used the Windows desktop app for over 10 years, and this is the first year that I needed to launch the app with administrative rights after installation (this is on Windows 11 2H25). So you are not alone!
The desktop program hasn't changed that much over the years, so while it's only speculation on my part, it seems probable that Intuit hasn't invested to keep up with Windows security changes. Perhaps Intuit would prefer that we switch to the cloud version?
