There are a number of reasons why childcare expenses would not affect your bottom line. These include:
having no tax owing (childcare expenses are not refundable)
having zero income (childcare expenses are capped at 2/3 of your earned income)
spouse’s income not yet entered
childcare expenses must be claimed by the lower earning spouse in most situations (the receipts may have no impact on your return if you are the higher earning spouse).
If the above reasons do not align with your tax situation, you can also double-check your dependant information. Common errors to check include
the date of birth of your child
improperly indicating the relationship as mother/father instead of son/daughter.
