Open TurboTax
When you are on the page where it shows what you used last year, scroll to the bottom & click on "See all TurboTax Products" to select a different product.

When you select that option and choose another version such as Turbo Tax Self Employed, after clicking the start new return you get a popup that says "Congratulations we have upgraded you to Expert Assist and review" and then there is no **bleep** way to remove this unwanted feature. This is such bad business and if I didn't have the past 15 years of taxes with Intuit I would be choosing another company. This is bordering on criminal behavoir forcing unwanted crap on users and then making them pay extra with no way to remove the extra feautures forced on them. I will be contacting the better business bureau and encourage others to do the same.
@lowebowski We understand your frustration. You cannot downgrade once you have chosen to upgrade to TurboTax. Your feedback is important, and I will forward it to our marketing team.
To return to the version you want to buy or prepare your return with TurboTax, please start over and select "Expert Help" when prompted. You can simply select "No Thanks" to decline the offer or proceed without it.
Thanks for the reply, Aniqua. As I said in my original post, I specifically selected the non Expert assist version, but after getting started on my return I had a pop up saying "Congratulations you have been upgraded to Expert Assist". I did not want this. If I had wanted this, I would have selected this version. As I said, this is so shady as I was forced this upgrade on me that I didn't want, and in my case the price of the product went from the discounted $36 to $66 with the unwanted Expert assist. And now there is no way to undo this addon that like I said, was forced on me.
As an added note, I was told that I had to create a new Intuit account if I didn't want the Expert assist. So not only am I now losing the 40% promotion that I had wanted to take advantage of, I am also going to lose all my past history with all my CCA write offs etc all because this **bleep** thing was forced on me. I will say it again, this is just such greasy business tactics and Intuit should be ashamed. And the way it was framed as "Congrats - we are going to force and upgrade on you that you don't want and there is nothing you can do about it" is bordering on criminal. When a users selects one version, they should get that version. Not have a pop up saying they are being "upgraded" to a version they don't want. Shady, shady, shady.
I am really disappointed with Turbotax. I ran into the same situation. I explicitly chose not to upgrade, but once I got to file it is charging me for the Turbotax Assist and Review Premier option for both mine and my wife's ($96 x2). I contacted Turbotax and was told there is nothing they can do. I have start over again. What a truly awful experience. I have been using Turbotax for many years. I will not be using it anymore. :(
