If you have previous tax years that you need to do returns for, you would ideally prepare and submit them in order. But if that will take you a long time, do the current tax years’ return first so that you can get it in before the deadline. For 2019 the deadline for individuals, has been extended to June 1, 2020, so you have some extra time.
The CRA is accepting returns from 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 via NETFILE. Any returns from 2015 or before, you would have to print out and mail. You can put all the returns you are going to mail in for yourself the same envelope. But, if you have a spouse or other family member who is mailing in returns, they would have to send in their returns in envelopes separate to yours.
If you would like to use TurboTax Online, we only have 3 years currently available:
2019: https://ww2.2019.turbotaxonline.intuit.ca/
2018: https://ww2.2018.turbotaxonline.intuit.ca/
2017: https://ww2.2017.turbotaxonline.intuit.ca/
If you have a Windows computer, then we have TurboTax CD/Download available for tax years 2014 to 2019.
You can find 2019 here: https://turbotax.intuit.ca/personal-tax-software/download-tax-software.jsp
You can find the older years here: https://turbotax.intuit.ca/tax-software/prior-year-taxes.jsp
The CRA also has the tax return forms that you can print and fill out available on their website, going back to the 80s: https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/forms-publications/tax-packages-years.html
I've gone on-line and can only find the Turbo Tax program to 2016. Is there any way to get earlier versions of the program? I need to file for someone who has to file from 2013 forward. Thanks.
