I picked up a copy of TurboTax 2024 desktop earlier this week for the family business and for personal returns from Staples.
My dad - as the owner of the business - installed it on his computer first. In previous years, he just sent me the license code to install it on my computer. This year, I apparently cannot use his license code on my (suddenly required) account.
This product is a desktop product, and can be installed on multiple computers - so why am I unable to install it under my own Intuit account? Is there a step we're missing?
You can still install TurboTax Desktop on 3 computers, but you need to use the same account that was used when the Licence code was first used. Once you sign in during installation, the code will already be there to select.
Well that is... the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard, and now I am very angry.
How do I ensure my feedback is heard by the proper people?
It is definitely NOT a "Home & Business" product if all 12(?) available returns must be processed under a single account. Why would one person (aka account) need 12 returns? Why would all people in a single household OR in a single small business want their tax return information shared with everyone else? Plus, the Intuit account requirement for a downloaded product is stupid.
This is just a big old cash grab, isn't it? 😒
TurboTax Desktop doesn't save your returns anywhere but on the computer where you created them. If your Dad prepares his return on his computer, you will have no access to the return unless you go onto his PC, or he sends you the file.
We have a 20 return version of TurboTax Desktop, so there are plenty of people who prepare 12 or more returns using the software.
