I am unable to Netfile my federal and Quebec returns. Cannot even print my federal return. I do not have any capital gains, so I do not see why that locked form would affect my being able to netfile. Someone else suggested removing the T5 (interest income), but I haven't tried that yet because that would mean resubmitting my return later with that information added. I spent more than an hour on the phone with a tech support person who went over my entire return, but that was a total waste of time because my return is not the problem! The problem is Turbotax itself. Her final answer was, try again in a couple of days. It's ridiculous that we cannot get answers or proper support for a product we have paid for. I will definitely be looking for a different software next year.
My message from Netfile says; "Your return is done, but filing for returns with capitol gains or losses is temporarily delayed". This is frustrating because I have no capitol gains or losses to report. They also indicate that "when the filing date is announced, we'll notify you at the email address you use forTurboTax so you can sign in and file."
Since then the federal government has deferred the capitol gains issue to next year so I'm not sure why the netfile can't resume.
Good day....i went directly to CRA and they have now told me....issue should be resolved end of March....lets hope so....
I think TurboTax should have updated their program to accommodate those with NO Capital Gains....perhaps some back door into the program....
Don't panic and it's not TurboTax's fault. Apparently there are about a dozen forms that have changed and likely your declaration is trying to use one or more of them. According to what I got from Rev. Que., the forms will be available March 15th. Give maybe a day or 2 more for Intuit to push them out. HOPEFULLY...
Unfortunately, the fiscal administration found many discrepancies this year and this is what has sent the whole system into disarray
It doesn’t make sense to say it’s not Tturbotax’s fault when several people have said they switched over to another software (like Ufile) or platform (like Wealthsimple), entered the same information as they did on Turbotax and were able to Netfile without any problems. If it works for other platforms or software, why is it only Turbotax that is having these problems?
Thank you....its just frustrating that i had them done early feb....because i left for europe and had to take my laptop with me in order to file.....and had to buy VPN software ....you can now go ahead and play the smallest violin in the world for me LOL
I certainly understand your frustration bethlou. But there are many contributing factors that can apply to the situation. Tax forms are very complex and demand a LOT of vigilance in screening them before they are released. Why U-File allowed the submission vs Turbo tax? i cannot say for 100% certainty, but as both applications differ, EVEN if they present the same options, it is possible that the forms that U-File included in the submissions differ from TurboTax. Maybe U-File has a different way of verifying if forms are up to date or not. I was able to get my Federal to work without having to delete any forms but not the provincial. When i called REV. Quebec, reluctantly, they DID confess the issue was cause by them because the Fiscal Admin. dept. did not authorize release of all forms and this cause the snowball effect.
Bottom line, regardless of what anyone tells you of what was, can, could be, or will be, unless YOU (or me) has access to the actual software's code, we cannot say that one is at fault or that the other is flawed with 100% certainty.
As a programmer for almost 50 years, I can say with a great certainty that programs, be it an app on a phone, a tax software on your comp. or software system managing one of the rockets that go to space, be it glitch or intentional, unless you know how the code works, all you can do is trust that whoever is managing this software, they will ultimately find a resolution. No if ands or buts about it. 😊.
All we can do for now is wait.
Meanwhile, someone wanna order some pizza for all of us...how many are we anyhow?? 🍕
Smile: It's good news either way. If you're waiting for money, you can look forward to it. if you owe, well, you can hold on to your money longer, hehehee
A good synopsis of the current problem with respect to capital gains and forms at the CRA end.
These forms are still locked by CRA & RQ and not finalized by yet. Please refer to this link Why does TurboTax say my forms are locked or haven't been finalized?
We do not have any ETA on this yet but as soon a these forms gets finalize we will be updating them in TurboTax.
We appreciate your patience.
