This is a bad idea!!!
This is by far the worst design ever. Lost a customer, there are plenty of better free alternatives.
Please let us know if the 2nd family member that installs the software on his desktop, is the person now able to see my tax information since we are now sharing my account information?
I downloaded the online version of TurbotaX (Canada) on my Lenovo desktop computer and am having endless issues connecting to the CRA website - so I tried to log onto my wife's MAC and I can access the CRA website.
However, the issue is the Mac computer when in the online version of Turbotax online - it does not recognize that I already purchased the turbotax and cannot access my current 2024 taxes that are partially completed. The online program wants me to pick and pay for a turbotax program to use.
Why and how do I access my partially completed 2024 tax return on another computer when logged in online to Turbotax?
@Candian_tax_payer You will not be able to access each other's data if you are using the desktop version and it is installed on two separate computers.
I have a related question, and, being new to the forum, am not sure of even how to post a question. So, this being the closest to what's troubling me, I ask here ...
I've been using TurboTax for over 10 years - one of the founders of the original company is a personal friend. So, GREAT product. Every year, I use the STANDARD version, as I only do my and my wife's returns, and I need the carry-forwards for capital gains, medical deductions, and charitable contributions. After hours of trying to get some clarity, it appears that the "STANDARD" version this year is no longer standard. To get the same functionality, it appears I now have to buy the PREMIUM version.
I'm a pensioner. STANDARD always cost $35 plus/minus $5. Now Intuit wants $90 for PREMIUM, to do THE SAME THING that STANDARD did. Am I reading this correctly?
Would appreciate any insight.
I have been buying Turbo Tax Standard Desktop version and sharing with my Dad for the past 15 years.
The change this year ... 'forcing the license to be linked to a single owner account to install' is the most stupid and unreasonable decision Intuit have ever made.
1) There is no reason to install to 2 different computers if both computer are owned by the same person.
2) If the 2 computers are own by 2 different people, this forces 'the owner' to share his account details and hash out the MFA with the 2nd person.
If intuit does not fix this next year, I have no choice but to switch to a different tax S/W.
