To accurately complete your taxes, you need to upgrade .. Msg is on 2 diff returns and suspect bug based on prior year. Any one else suspecting upgrade not really needed?

e.g. 1) student w/bursary moved in tax year and no longer has a T5
e.g. 2) was self employed last year with T4s and no longer have self employ this year

To accurately complete your taxes, you need to upgrade .. Msg is on 2 diff returns and suspect bug based on prior year. Any one else suspecting upgrade not really needed?

Income, credits, and deductions not listed above are not covered by TurboTax Free, including:

  • Employment expenses (meals, lodging, etc.)
  • Donations
  • Medical expenses
  • Investment income and expenses
  • Rental property income and expenses
  • Self-employed income and expenses

Unfortunately, there is no way to downgrade a TurboTax product once it has been upgraded.  If you are using TurboTax Online, you’ll need to start a new return to change your product. To start a new return, select “Start a New Return” from under “My Returns” in the top left corner. Once you have started your new return, you can select “View All Returns” from under “My Accounts & Returns”. Then delete the unwanted return by clicking the small Trash Can next to it or “Delete” under the return’s name.

@m134 To get around this issue, you should start your new return by answering "Other" when asked How did you do your taxes last year? You should not transfer the prior year information into this year's return to stop the transferring of the previous T5 and previous self-employment information from triggering the software's need to upgrade.
