Open TurboTax
Yes, please clarify because the product description for Intuit TurboTax Deluxe states:
"System Requirements: Operating System: Windows 11, macOS, Mac 14 Sonoma, Mac 15 Sequoia, Mac 26"
There is no indication of support for Windows 10!
"SOFTWARE WILL NOT INSTALL ON WINDOWS 10"
Above quote copied from the TurboTax Deluxe 2025 specifications on the Intuit website. Full quote follows:
"Operating systems required: Windows 11 (64-bit), macOS Sonoma 14 or later. Software will not install on Windows 10, macOS 13 or earlier operating systems. Please confirm your operating system prior to purchase. See full system requirements."
@bish999 TurboTax Deluxe 2025 is available as an online version, while TurboTax Standard is the desktop version. Ensure that you visit TurboTax.ca (not the US website). You can download the desktop version for 2025 if you're using Windows 10. When you install TurboTax Desktop, you will have the option to choose between Windows 10 and Windows 11; however, Windows 11 is recommended.
Does this mean people in the US cannot install TurboTax Deluxe Desktop on a Windows 10 (with ESU) but Canadians can?
The Intuit product information on OS compatibility is inconsistent between what is published on product pages and what has recently been posted in this forum. It is creating unnecessary confusion and stress. Downloads are non-refundable so users rely on product specifications rather than forum postings.
Intuit has a major PR problem and needs to make a formal and well publicized announcement about OS compatibility since they previously said Windows 10 would not be supported.

I'm a little late to the party and was posting my frustrations on the US TurboTax website. lol
I'm thankful that TT2025 will be allowed to run on Windows 10.
I too have three PC's that are all running Windows 10, cannot be upgraded to Windows 11, but work perfectly fine and quickly (I upgraded to SSD's and maxed out the RAM on these computers during COVID)
I am also running 0patch which will protect these PC's for years to come! And also given that Microsoft will continue to update Windows Defender and the Malicious software removal tool life will be good. lol
Now I'm not hopeful that this will continue past 2025 so I'm wondering if anyone knows of alternative desktop software that will work as good at TT and get the job done? My tax situation is not all that complex - I do a few simple returns for family ... for myself I have interest write-offs, capital gains, etc. from investments --- otherwise pretty straight forward.
The CRA has a number of approved desktop programs and was wondering which ones would fit the bill:
(most of these seem to be compatible with systems starting at Windows 7 and up).
I just downloaded TurboTax Home & Business 2025. the installer will not let me install on my Windows 10 system. WE need a straight answer now that it's after the 16th.
Will Intuit support windows 10 for the 2025 tax year in the U.S.? YES OR NO
Thanks Steve
As the originator of this thread I am finally circling back.
I installed TurboTax Canada 2025 Standard on my Windows 10 with ESU installed and it presents this window:
It doesn't detect that the computer has ESU or not.
It will allow installation on Windows 10 but we are accepting the risk of using an unsupported operating system, even if using ESU.
The question then is: if I call for support for a TurboTax 2025 issue on this computer running Windows 10 ESU, will Intuit assist me or not?
Also, it is unfortunate our American friends have joined into this thread. The American TurboTax is a completely different software, done by a completely different team and a different support policy. TurboTax Canada is really the old QuickTax updated since it was started way back in 1999. Hopefully people using the USA TurboTax can post their questions on the American side of Intuit's site instead of here.
Clark.
