According to the CRA, if you are self-employed your total revenue will be the sum of all inflow of cash, receivables, or other consideration arising in the course of your ordinary activities in a particular period. These inflows will generally be from the sale of goods, or/and the rendering of services.
If you are an employee, your total income will be the income that you are paid regularly due to your work activity. Please visit Total income for further information.

Note: If you currently earning income from a business and you also are an employee, you will have to report both of these sources of income in your tax return.
