Rental Property Empty for Part of the Year

I rented my house for the first half of 2023, then prepared the property for selling and put it on the market.  I did not move into the house, so while the property was on the market to be sold, it was empty.  The property did not sell until the next year (2024).  Is this considered rental property for the entire 2023 tax year since I did not use it as my personal residence for any part of the year despite the fact I was not actively trying to rent the house and there were no tenants for the last half of the year?

You cannot deduct typical rental expenses (such as utilities, repairs, maintenance, depreciation, etc.) if the property was not available for rental use.
