Can I deduct rent on apartment in another city closer to work?
No. You can't deduct it as an employment expense unless you have a T2200S or T2200 signed by your employer saying that this apartment is required for your job.
You also can't claim it if you live in a province that has a rent credit, as those credits only allow you to claim rent on your primary residence.
