Capital loss of Expired Warrants

Hello,

I was wondering where you would report the capital losses from warrants that expired without be exercised.

This is not listed on the T5008 form.

Capital loss of Expired Warrants

We appreciate you choosing TurboTax,

In the case of a warrant that expired without being exercised, let's say in 2020, you are considered to have disposed of the warrant on that date, so you'll be liable for a capital loss equal to the warrant's original cost (since the proceeds of disposition are zero).  When the warrants expire in 2020, you will report a capital loss on your 2020 tax return.

Losses are reported on Schedule 3 in the same way as gains, and allowable losses are carried forward to future years, or can be used to offset gains within the current year, up to three years prior.
