My daughter and her baby live with us and she is on Social Assistance. She pays room and board which is part of the payments she receives from Social Assistance. Does she have to claim the rent paid and in turn we claim as an income? Our tax rate is higher so I don't want to claim as an income but since she gets Social Assistance to cover Rent (room and board she has a room in our house and we pay all the house bills, food etc.), does she have to claim the rent payments otherwise chance affecting her Social Assistance payments?
What you have described is a cost-sharing situation rather than rental income as you have no expectation for a profit. Therefore, do not enter the income on your return and your daughter should not enter the rent (for Trillium Benefit or other provincial benefits) on her rent.
