I know when I acquired the stock in my divorce settlement but is that what I report? Don't I report when my former spouse acquired them?
No, you would report the date when you got them as your acquisition date. Ex: If your former spouse gave you 500 shares in GME on February 20, 2020, then your acquisition date would be February 20, 2020.
