As per Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), you can claim the Vehicle Allowance under Allowable Expenses. This payment is in addition to your regular salary. Unless the allowance is based on a reasonable per-kilometer rate, it is taxable.

 

Employees who get a taxable allowance may be able to deduct allowable expenses on their tax and benefit returns.
