The way you claim your rent depends on your tax situation and province of residence. For more information please see our TurboTax articles: Can I claim a tax deduction for my rent? and Love and Taxes: The Married Couple’s Guide to Taxes

As found in our TurboTax article, there are conditions for Splitting Pension Income. You may be able to transfer up to 50 percent of your pension to your spouse or common-law partner.

  • Note: If both spouses have eligible pension income, are fully using the pension income amount, and are in the same tax bracket, there may be no benefit to pension splitting.
