I am trying designate my HBP contribution, but the system tells me I am exceeding my RSP contribution. I made a spousal contribution much larger than my HBP amount.
Is this a bug in the software or can you not repay the HBP from a spousal contribution?

No. You must contribute to your own RRSP in order to designate an amount as a repayment under your HBP.
