Form T1135 -

Form T1135 -

Form T1135 is for foreign property. If you are mistakenly listing a Canadian address or asset in a section meant for foreign property, the form may reject it.

Canada (CAN) is not a valid country code for Form T1135 because the form is exclusively for assets located outside of Canada. The CRA's system will reject the code for Canada because, by definition, "specified foreign property" cannot be Canadian.

If you are reporting assets held in a Canadian brokerage (like your USD TD account), you must use the country code for where the investment itself is located, not where your bank is. For example, if you hold Apple shares, the code is USA. If you are using the "Category 7" simplified reporting for a Canadian brokerage, you should list the countries of the underlying stocks (most commonly the USA).

Hope this helps!
