My son didn't live in residence at his college, however because of Covid he was forced to get an apartment across the road from his school where do I input his rent?

How does my claim his rent for his apartment for his out of town school?

Thanks for your question. Rent paid in Ontario is reported under Provincial>Provincial Tax credits- through the Ontario Trillium Benefit. This program combines 1. Ontario Sales Tax, 2. Ontario Energy and Property Tax Credit (Rent, energy, property tax) and 3. Northern Energy Credit (for taxpayers living in Northern Ontario) This benefit does not affect the tax return, It is paid out separately just like the GST and Child Tax Benefit. You can view the estimated amount on the bottom line(tax summaries) screen under REVIEW. Please keep your receipts in case Canada Revenue Agency asks to see them in the future.
