Where do I enter the Rent I paid for 2017?

There is only a tax credit for rent in certain provinces:

  • If you live in Ontario, TurboTax will prompt you to enter your rent amounts to claim the Ontario Trillium Benefit in the Provincial section of your return.

  • If you live in Manitoba, TurboTax will prompt you to enter your rent to qualify for the Manitoba Education Property Tax Credit in the Provincial section of your return.

  • If you live in an eligble dwelling n Québec you may be entitled to the Solidarity Tax Credit. TurboTax will prompt you to enter your rent amounts to claim the Solidarity Tax Credit in the Provincial section of your return.

You may also claim your rent if you are self-employed or if you are allowed to claim employment expenses (i.e., you have a signed T2200 from your employer).
