Wife transferred car to me and I traded it on a new car. I transferred my previous car to her. We're both retired and these are are personal use vehicles only. Taxable?

Generally speaking - not taxable. Vehicles used for personal use only would not be considered to be capital in nature for the transactions you've described so no gain or loss would be reported.
