Can I claim moving expenses to move furniture from family home in BC to Alberta after moving from UofA residence to my own apartment in the same city?

I had been living in residence at UofA and moved into an apartment in August 2017.  My parents gave me some furniture from their home in BC and we moved it to the new apartment from BC.  Can I claim the moving expenses since my permanent residence changed more than 40km, even though I only moved a few km from the campus to the apartment?

As a student you can only deduct moving expenses against taxable scholarships, bursary and grant income. If you have this income reported on your tax return you could claim the cost of moving your permanent household to the new location.
