Where can I claim the cost of dance lessons incurred for the purpose of general self-improvement in my artistic career as a professional self-employed dancer?
If the courses were to learn a new skill, then it would be considered a capital expense. So you would not be able to deduct them as an expense, though you can claim the amounts as tuition if they are eligible.
If the courses are just to upgrade an existing skill, then they are a current expense and you can claim them as a business expense. They can go under “Other Expenses”. This is at the end of the Expenses section in the Self-Employment part of the Interview.
