Deducting business expenses paid by someone else

If I were to buy something for my business and if someone else buys the item for me instead is it still possible for me to deduct that item as business expenses?

No, you cannot claim an expense that someone else has paid for you. However, if there are any fees to install it or any maintenance costs related to the item that you had paid, you can claim them as an expense. If you'd like to know more about available business tax deductions here is a link to a great TurboTax article.
