I was working as a salaried employee from home but was not on any commission. Can I claim the costco and amazon prime membership fees as that's where I purchased items?

According to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), the Work From Home expenses deduction has only certain types of expenses that can be claimed. They are as follows (For Salaried employees):

  • electricity
  • heat
  • water
  • utilities portion (electricity, heat, and water) of your condominium fees
  • home internet access fees
  • maintenance and minor repair costs
  • rent paid for a house or apartment where you live

As it doesn't indicate any supplies or goods you may not claim them under the Work From Home deduction. If your employer doesn't reimburse you for those payments you may be able to claim them under employment expenses instead.
