An accountant use to do our taxes he put us down as married, but we are common law. is it worth adjusting years of taxes for this or use the right one going forward?

As long as you have claimed as "spouse's" in the past and reported each other's income, you should be OK. CRA considers Married and CommonLaw partners the same for tax purposes.
