The answer is yes. You can deduct a training course as a business expense. However, there are a few criteria to qualify for this expense as per CRA:
- This training is relevant to your work if you are self-employed.
- The course qualifies for tuition credit.
- Your employer requires you to take the course and does not reimburse you for it.
Training expenses will be entered under "Other Expenses." when you report them in the Employment Expenses section, on a T777 slip.
